Trusting God’s Timing Is Now

For those of you new followers who might not know the back story, I’m going to summarize the best I can to get you up to speed with what God has laid on our hearts and how I feel His timing has come! I pray you follow along and share with others so that we can continue to shine His light and blessings on those God sends our way.

It all started back in 1980, well it really started in 1975 when Mom had a nervous breakdown. The miracle though, and our mission, started in 1980 when she was miracously healed by God after 5 years of suffering. Ever since then, she knew she had to tell her story and share her experience. I got on board pretty quickly, but life got in our way and we fought God’s timing. Well, in May 2015, we published our first book, Signs from God, and in that book we shared Mom’s testimony along with many other stories about Signs from God. Then in 2016, I created this website and we’ve been sharing ever since. Yes, we’ve had some quiet times as well while life continues to lead us in different directions. God keeps pushing us back though, and as we get older and life slowly starts slipping away, we know this is still God’s plan and we both feel Him pushing us.

In the last month, my Facebook Group, Signs from God, has so many new followers that it is obvious God is leading these believers to us. In the past new followers would trickle in every once in a while, but lately it is like God opened up the flood gates and hundreds are joining! I feel like I did back in 2015 when He put all the right people in front of me to help me publish our first book. Now He is sending me all of you to help us spread the word and motivate us to do so much more.

He has also led me to my new Church, Quest, in Grovetown, GA where I’ve been a member for just about a year now. I met with two Pastors and the Director of our Women’s Group this month about starting my own Small Group. Yep, you got it, Signs from God! The plan is to meet for eight weeks and go through our book and discuss all the many ways God speaks with us. It’s been a dream for Mom and I to be up on stage sharing her testimony and our story and I really feel like the time is now and God is helping us spread the word and bless His chosen people!

An example of God’s love for His children happenned this weekend when a new member in my Facebook Group shared that he had HIV and is struggling emotionally. My Spouse saw it and posted some inspiring words of wisdom for him that actually prompted him to ask if he ever did online sessions. WOW! You see in our darkest hours, God is working even when we don’t see it! God is putting people in our lives for a reason that is impacting us beyond our wildest dreams. We just need to give Him our burdens and believe that He is working it all out for our good.

If you need help doing this, I highly recommend an app called the “One Minute Pause”. It’s a 30 Days to Rilsilient program that provides 30 days of two 10-minute self-guided devotional meditations for you to spend time alone with God giving your burdens to Him! It is life-changing!

The time to make a change is now! Follow along as we continue our journey blessing others by sharing our stories and God’s love. Please check out the rest of our website windbeneathourwings.net and our Facebook Group, Signs from God and share with your friends.

God Fills The Gap

Are you ALL IN with what God wants for you and your life? Are you following His lead? If not, now is the time to take that next step because when you do, He fills in the gap, even when you can’t see the step. God is there leading the way, all we have to do is believe and trust in Him. This is a message we heard in church Sunday and how we tend to take one step forward and two steps back. The bottom line is that God Fills the Gap all we have to do is take that first step and keep walking in faith!

I remember so clearly the day He prompted me to write a post on Facebook asking others to share their signs from God. That was not me, so I tried to push it off. At that point in my life, I was a stalker on Facebook simply watching everyone else live and share life. I hardly ever shared my life, but God wanted me to put myself out there. To be vulnerable and make an impact. He was relentless and wouldn’t let it go. Three times that morning, He layed it on my heart with so much passion, I finally pushed aside what I was doing and wrote that post. From there, I simply said, “ok God, now it’s up to you.”

I was not ready or expecting what would happen next. I literally could not keep up with the amount of notifications and comments I was receiving. It was definitely God’s handiwork that day. From there, He led me on a journey of self-publishing my own book entitled “Signs from God”. This has been an amazing journey and it’s far from over.

Check it out if you enjoy reading short stories of God’s love and how He and our loved ones choose to communicate with us. You will be inspired to recognize your own signs from God and might even want to share yours below in the comments. I’m working on a follow-up to this book and I’d love to include your story in it.

God Lives In Us

Untitled

Reaching out to God comes easy when we are going through tough times, because we realize we need His help more than ever.  In our ordinary days, when things are going smoothly though, we tend to let Him slip further away from the forefront of our minds. If we can train ourselves to always remember God, just imagine how much better our days could go every single day.

This is something that I plan to work on more this year. When I get up in the morning the first thing I do is grab my coffee and then sit down in what I call my ‘quiet chair’ and spend time with God reading my devotionals and journaling with God. This part comes easy to me. It’s the middle of the day and those ordinary moments that come more difficult for me. God has been pushing me lately to come to Him more and to share more by sharing my stories.

Currently, I am listening to an Audible Book, “Atomic Habits”, and it is helping me to create better habits for myself. One of these habits I am working on now is to recognize God more throughout the day. So I now have a cross hanging from my rearview mirror in my car that reminds me to pray to God while I’m driving and ask for His protection.  I also have a picture of Jesus hanging in my room so that I can see Him from my quite chair as that helps me visualize Him and feel His presence more. When the Holy Spirit asked me to give to those in need, I felt compelled to do just that. I put together a grab bag of some essentials (like a new toothbrush, a new pair of socks, a gift card and a little spiritual note and my favorite verse.) It felt so good to hand it out for the first time.

That Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith.” —Ephesians 3:17

Update: The above post has been sitting in my drafts since 2019. I just came acrossed it today and thought I should release it, but I now have to add that after making these habit changes, I have come so much closer to God. He walked me through, step-by-step, a separation and divorce which was the hardest decision of my life. After spending time with just God contemplating life and my decision, He then led me on another journey of finding love again, which led to a major move to Georgia. He has shown me so many signs of his presence in this journey that I could and probably will write another book. The most recent chapter in this journey is finding our new church and a group where we have become ‘Rooted’ to God and this amazing group of believers we now call our Rooted Family.

My story is far from over and I can’t wait to see where else He leads me. I’m curious though, where are you and God in your life now? Are you struggling to find your way, or is He leading you every step of the way? If you are struggling, just know He is there, all you have to do is reach out and ask Him to forgive your sins and believe that He gave His life for you. The holy spirit is yours for the taking. Ask Him to live inside of you, for you, with you and to lead you to do His Will. Spend time with Him everyday and take the extra time to Be Still and Listen!

“Be still, and know that I am God.” ~ Palms 46:10

Rooted with God

Where do I start…..

Last January we moved to Grovetown, GA to be closer to my mom. We were able to keep our same jobs, have a beautiful home, and mom lives right around the corner. We were living our best life, but something was missing. We hadn’t been inside a church since before Covid when we were living in Maryland. Now that we were settled and things seemed to be easing up, we decided it was time to find a local church that we could call home so I started doing some research. We wanted a church with a similar feel and message that was warm and welcoming and I must say my research paid off big time! Not only do we call this church home, we now have an extended family. We call it our “Rooted Family”.

On January 13th we started this group series called “Rooted” where a group of us meet once a week for 12 weeks and work through a workbook together getting rooted in God’s word and learn how to be a Christian and what all of that means. This class has changed the lives of each and every one of us and we have all bonded together in a way that has not only strengthened our relationships, but built a foundation that will last a lifetime.

If you ever have the opportunity to participate in this series, I highly encourage you to do so. You will become spiritually rooted to God. You will learn things about yourself, you didn’t realize. You will become a better person. You will become the person God created you to be. You will have a clearer understanding of your pupose and His will. As you work through this experience, you will be witnessing the creation of ‘your story’ and a transformation where you realize you are enough. You are strong. You are worthy. You are loved. You are God’s child, and all of your sins are forgiven. God wants the best for us and He is always working to bring us closer to Him. Follow His lead and I pray it leads you to being Rooted as well!

Have You Ever Challenged God?

So, one day going through my separation and process of divorce I was feeling pretty lost and alone and doubting myself and God’s Will for my life. I decided to get grounded and took a walk by myself through the woods to one of my favorite spots next to a stream. Over the years, God has given me many signs. The most prevalent are finding crosses and heart shaped rocks. I have a collection for sure that I will share with you here, so you’ll have to scroll through just a couple pictures. The first picture is the first rock I found on this particular day when I asked God for a sign. I think you’ll admit, this is a far stretch for a heart and I really needed a clear sign. I had received many as you see in the last picture, but I wasn’t impressed at all with this particular rock.

I couldn’t believe the words that came out of my mouth when I asked God, “Is this really the best you can do God?” Who was I to question God. I felt terrible, but He accepted the challenge and came through. I was brought to tears! The next picture in this post is what I found not even 30 seconds later when I looked down exactly where I was still standing. It brings tears to my eyes every time I share this story! The rock itself was not heart shaped, but engraved on it was a perfect heart and a cross! From that point on, my Faith in God has grown beyond my wildest expectations and it grows stronger every single day!

Sometimes he doesn’t give us what we are looking for, He gives us something better. We just have to be open to receiving it and put all our hope, trust, and faith in Him knowing He is with us always. We are not alone, and He loves us unconditionally and wants the best for us. He wants the best for all of His children just like we do our own! It is hard to comprehend at times, especially when we are faced with challenges and really hard to understand situations. It’s those situations though where He is making us stronger.

The Confident Woman

This morning during my devotional time with God, I asked him to let me hear what His Will was for me today. I wanted to know what He needed me to write about so that I could bless someone with His message. Then, I sat there and listened. The thought popped into my head to scroll Facebook for the first inspirational message and then write about it. He typically prompts me this way, so I opened Facebook and was surprised to see a Memory of mine that popped up about a new book I had gotten a while back by Joyce Meyer, entitled “The Confident Woman”. So I immediately grabbed that book from my book shelf where God led me again. If you are reading this message, it was meant for you!

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9

If you’ve been following me, you already know my word of the year is “Fearless”, and the first devotional I opened up was entitled “Do it Afraid”. It sounds a little contradictory doesn’t it. There are 100 bible verses about fear and anxiety and clearly He doesn’t want us to fear and asks us to give Him all of our fears and to put our trust in Him. This can be very hard at times, especially when we are going through trials of difficulties.

When I started turning some pages in The Confident Woman, I started to gather a theme and the message that God wanted me to share today. I realized that if I want to make an impact on others, I have to realize that God is with me and is always leading me and I should feel confident because I have His Favor and am covered with His Armor. All I have to be is myself. So whether we do it fearlessly, or we do it afraid, we just need to do it confidently! He knows the road ahead of us and He goes before us and continues to walk with us every step of the way. We need to remember all of those positive affirmations and keep telling ourselves that we are worthy, we are enough, we are empowered, we have His Favor, and He is always working things out for our good. Even though things may seem like they will never get better we have to trust in God and His timing.

Those times when we take the wrong path, and we will, He will turn us around and get us back on track. It may just take us a little longer to get there, but we will get there. When we are in these times of trials, we are growing and learning the entire time and that makes us better people. So embrace the trials for what they are, opportunities to become closer to God. He never promised us that life would be easy. We just need to remain in faith and do it fearlessly or do it afraid, knowing that God has your back! Either way, do it confidently because with God you can’t go wrong. You will meet your goals and live out your dreams when you just stick with it for the duration. Don’t give up!

Fearless – My Word for 2022

For the last several years I’ve been picking a new word for the year to focus on that will help me become a better person through self-development. This year my goal is to become closer yet to God so that I can clearly hear His Voice and recognize more of His signs that are leading me on His chosen path for me. So when the opportunity to join a new study course with my new church came up, called Rooted, I thought that would be the perfect word for my focus. I’m so excited to be taking this with my boyfriend, where we can both grow together and embrace what we are learning together.

Then as I was doing some self reflection, it became clear that I am already rooted with God and my real focus needs to be doing what He is leading me to do fearlessly! It was then that I changed my word for 2022 to “Fearless”! You see, we all have self-doubt. We don’t believe that we are good enough, strong enough, pretty enough, or have the knowledge, or money it takes to make our dreams come true. What we need to do instead is change our way of thinking, so I did a little research on just what it means to be Fearless. The Webster Dictionary defines Fearless as, “Free from fear: Brave” and ties to that more adjectives such as: bold, courageous, intreped, valiant, valorous, gallant, spirited, heroic, daring, etc.

Then I turned to the Bible and found that there are 100 bible verses relating to fear. One of my top favorite verses is Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Fearless is a great trait to have, but fearlessness is the next level beyond confidence. One of the definitions of confidence, “is a feeling or belief that someone or something is good or has the ability to succeed at something.” When you put your confidence in God, know in your heart that He will strengthen you. He will help you. He will uphold you. He is for you and will always be with you. So I urge you as well to fearlessly take that next step forward into the unknown with faith, even when you are uncertain of the outcome. Know that with God you can live your dreams, build bridges to places that you can’t see, and take chances others wouldn’t even imagine.

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

Here’s a few more verses I found comforting:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” ~ Philippians 4:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” ~ Deuteronomy 31:6

Angel Iris in the Clouds

The other day traveling back home from Maryland, I saw my cousin’s baby she had lost at just over 2 months old in the clouds. It was clear as day to me. I saw her perfect head, her little ear and nose profile, and then her folded hands in prayer over her chest, much like in this picture captured before she was taken from us way too early.

About 10 minutes later, I saw the remains of a bad accident and knew why I saw her in the clouds. She was watching over us. It gave me chills! I only wish I had stopped to take a picture, but I was in awe and started praying with her. By the time I thought to take a picture, it was too late. I’ll cherish the memory though, and the peaceful feeling that came over me!

Do You Need a Sign from God?

This could be just the sign you need. This book itself was a Sign from God. We all receive signs from God differently. He speaks to us differently as well. Some may receive hearts, crosses, feathers, pennies, dimes, and some even hear his soft voice in their head. This book includes many true testimonies and signs from God and loved ones and might just be the sign you need today to know you are not alone.

About the book:

Listening to God’s soft quiet voice has led this mother and daughter team on an ultimate journey of documenting ‘Signs from God’ and sharing the true testimony of a miraculous healing Arlene experienced after suffering five long years with a nervous breakdown. It is a story of faith that speaks so profoundly you will clearly recognize that God is in control. He led Sharon on the journey of documenting the signs from God she and her mother have personally received. While documenting these signs, that inner voice was relentless. Sharon felt the nudge from God to reach out to their community as well in hopes of receiving signs from others that may have had similar experiences. Without hesitation she composed her Facebook post. Once the message was out there for all to see, stories immediately started flowing that were willingly shared on the day God spoke to her. It was then that she and her mother sat back, took a deep breath, and said, “The rest is up to you, God.”

Excerpt from Signs from God:

“God’s presence has always been a part of my life. Sometimes it’s stronger than others, sometimes I have periods of doubt. When I was an adolescent, my mother battled with a nervous breakdown for nearly five years. She was in and out of hospitals and experienced so much pain and torment that I could not help but wonder why. Why would God put her through such a traumatic experience? She was a good person, a great mother, a loyal friend that would do anything for anyone . . . I could go on and on, so why her? She firmly believed in God, yet five long years passed before her miraculous healing took place.”

Here’s what a few of our fans have written:

5.0 out of 5 stars – This special book will bring hope and healing to many hearts.

“I have greatly enjoyed reading ‘Signs From God’ by Sharon Shabinaw and Arlene Garrett. It has definitely blessed me with peace and reassurance that God is definitely real just as I have always believed and known. I too have had my personal experiences with God and can relate to many of the real life experiences that so many individuals share in this book. I recommend this book for all those that are tempted to think that God does not hear their prayers and doesn’t listen to prayers anymore. God always listens to prayers and he always answers the prayers of those that love him truly and have a sincere heart. Sometimes he may not answer when we want or give us exactly what we want and he has his perfect reasons. Everything is for our own good. God bless you Sharon and Arlene for writing such an inspiring book and praising God as well as blessing others with the experiences shared in this book!”

Is This The Best You Can Do God?

I’ve never challenged God like this before, but this particular day I was so distraught and in a pretty bad place. I had left my husband after 18 years of marriage, was living on my own, and had started to get back into the dating scene once my divorce was in progress. Got mixed up with someone that I knew wouldn’t amount to anything serious, which is what I wanted. Dating was not my thing, and while we had fun and enjoyed each other’s company, it just wasn’t going to work. I am someone who has a lot of love to give and I don’t like to be alone. I also wasn’t going to settle for just anyone, and at this point and time, I was very confused. I started talking with my husband again actually considering going back to my marriage, but I knew that wasn’t the best thing for me and my health. Not that he mistreated me, it was just too stressful dealing with his addictions in life. Granted I still loved and do love this man and he will always have a very special place in my heart. That is what was so painful and confusing for me.

I used to think I was a very strong woman and some days, I still feel that I am. This day, I was not. I decided to take my puppy on a walk through the woods to a quiet spot I had recently found to be with God and my thoughts. It was while on this walk and in my quiet time with God where I am always looking for Signs from God to know that I am where I am supposed to be and that I’m following His path and Will for me.

God started communicating with me in my twenties with crosses and I would see them in the strangest of places. Then in later years, He added heart-shaped rocks in sharing His Signs with me. This 22nd day of June, 2019 was my birthday and the presents I received from God changed my life!

I was walking through the woods and found some trees that had fallen and formed a perfect cross. I had to stop for a minute and just take it in and naturally take a picture to capture the moment.

Then later I was combing the waters edge looking for heart shaped rocks; and, like on most ocassions, one appears. This rock though wasn’t perfect and it left me doubting that it was truly His Sign or if I was just hoping it was His Sign. I wanted something more; something much better. As I looked at the rock in question, I asked out loud, “is this all you can do God, can’t you do better?”

It was then not even 30 seconds this second bigger rock came into view and I was blown away!!! Not only does it have a perfectly shaped heart engraved within the rock but there are markings that looks like the river ran through it almost in the form of a cross! Do you see it??? God is always with us and He hears us. We just have to have Faith!

Ever since this day in the woods, I have received so many more heart-shaped rocks to add to my collection and I know without a doubt that God is continuing to give me His absolute best! I know He is always with me, and when I am not strong, He is carrying me and will get me through. This way of thinking has gotten me through these past couple of years and I am so grateful for finally trusting God and giving Him all of my Faith for His Will to be done in my life.

As a result, my life has turned around in such an amazing way. I found my soul mate and we have so much in common. We are so good for each other that we make each other a better person. God is first in our lives and He has brought us together during this pandemic in a way that we thought was impossible. He has also pulled my son through a horrific accident where he experienced a brain bleed resulting in traumatic brain injury and severe concussion. We refused to be negative and only spoke of what we wanted for him and his recovery and within two weeks he was back home where he belonged and on the road to a full recovery. In just three short days, we will be moving to Grovetown, Georgia to be closer to my mother and brother. This is a new start for us in a new State and I know that God is leading us every step of the way!

I encourage you to look for your Signs from God with an open mind and an open heart. He speaks to each of us differently and a heart or a cross might not be your thing. Maybe you have a thing for feathers, or clouds, or a specific bird…. whatever it is it is something that God knows means something to you or interests you. Ask Him for a sign and see what shows up. I’d love to hear about it when it does.
